I love Pink Himalayan Salt. Those pink crystals are not only pretty but pretty flavorful.
Himalayan Crystal Salt is mined from the Himalayan Mountains which stretch across Asia passing through China, Nepal, Myanmar, Pakistan, Bhutan, Afghanistan, and India. That sounds so exotic. It’s pink because it hasn’t been bleached or stripped of its minerals (calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper and iron).
What I particularly like about Pink Himalayan Salt is that it contains less sodium per serving than regular table salt because the crystal structure is larger than refined salt.
Yes salt is salt and overall we consume too much of it and need to use it less liberally. But there is nothing like a little salt to awaken the flavor of food. Using Pink Himalayan Salt in moderation might be a great alternative to regular table salt.
It is also touted as having medicinal properties that may help to reduce acid reflux, regulate cell water content, strengthens bones and remove toxins from the body, just to list a few.
But above all that, I love the subtle flavor it gives foods.
Pink Himalayan Salt is not widely available. But you can get it from most health and specialty food stores like Sprouts, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods or if you are an online shopper, you can get it from Amazon.com. And guys, you can use it too!
